Create a shipping zone

From your Corksy admin portal:

  1. Go to Settings → Shipping & Delivery

  2. Select Manage Rates → Create Shipping Zone

  3. Give your shipping zone a name

    • ✅ We recommend including state abbreviations for clarity, e.g., “Northeast (NY, NJ, CT)”

  4. Choose the states you want to include in the zone

  5. Click Save

💡 If you're using UPS or FedEx live rates, you only need one shipping zone that includes all the states you plan to ship to.

Add manual shipping rates

After creating a zone:

  1. Go to Settings → Shipping & Delivery → Manage Rates

  2. Click Add Rate next to the desired zone

  3. Select Set up your own rates

  4. Choose the Shipping Speed:

    • Express (1–2 business days)

    • Standard (3–4 business days)

    • Economy (5–8 business days)

    • Custom (label it however you'd like)

(Optional) Click Add Conditions to create tiered pricing:

  • By Weight

  • By Order Price

Click Save

Set conditions by weight

Use this method if you charge based on how many bottles are in the order. Here's an example assuming each bottle weighs 3 lbs:

📦 Setting Up Conditional Weight-Based Shipping Rates

To ensure accurate and customer-friendly shipping rates, set your conditional weight tiers based on your bottle weight. Below is an example using 3 lbs per bottle:

0-3 lbs: 1 bottle

3.1-6 lbs: 2 bottles

6.1-9 lbs: 3 bottles

9.1-12 lbs: 4 bottles

12.1-15 lbs: 5 bottles

15.1-18 lbs: 6 bottles

18.1-21 lbs: 7 bottles

21.1-24 lbs: 8 bottles

24.1-27 lbs: 9 bottles

27.1-30 lbs: 10 bottles

30.1-33 lbs: 11 bottles

33.1-36 lbs: 12 bottles (Full Case)

Recommendation: Set free shipping at the 12-bottle (36 lbs) tier to encourage full case orders.

Pro Tip: Always base these weight tiers on your actual bottle weight to ensure shipping rates are precise and aligned with your packaging.

Rates use the total weight of the products in the order. If a product's weight is 0 or missing, any order that includes it lands in a lower tier, for example a six-bottle order charged the five-bottle rate. Check that every wine you ship has its weight set.

Which rates does a customer see at checkout?

Checkout shows the rates in the shipping zone the address falls in that match the order's weight (or price, if you set price conditions). A rate with no conditions shows on every order in that zone, so customers may see several options. Rates can't be limited by product type. To keep a rate to certain orders, for example gift card shipping, give it a weight range that only those orders fall into, such as 0 to 1.5 lb. An order with wine and a gift card then gets the wine rate. To charge in-state and out-of-state customers differently, put those states in separate zones.

Checkout says "we do not currently ship to your location"

This is a general message, so it can have more than one cause. One cause is that no shipping rate covers the customer's address. Check that the customer's state is in one of your shipping zones and that the zone has at least one rate, or that your carrier app rates are added to it. If your zones and rates look right, message us from the chat in your Admin Portal with the customer's state and we'll look into it.

What does Wrap mean?

If an order weighs more than your highest weight tier, Wrap lets Corksy reuse your tiers instead of showing no rate. For example, if your highest tier covers 40 lb and an order weighs 100 lb, Corksy applies the 40 lb rate twice, then the right tier for the remaining 20 lb. Wrap only changes the rate. It doesn't split the order into boxes or create extra labels.

To turn it on, go to Settings > Shipping & Delivery > Manage rates, find the shipping zone, and switch on the Wrap toggle next to the rate in the Custom Rates table.

Set conditions by price

Encourage higher cart values by offering discounted or free shipping as order totals increase. Example:

💰 Conditional Price-Based Shipping Rates

Set up shipping tiers based on order value to encourage higher purchase amounts. Below is an example:

  • $0 - $49.99: Standard shipping rate

  • $50 - $99.99: Discounted shipping rate

  • $100 - $149.99: Reduced shipping rate (or flat rate)

  • $150 - $199.99: Free shipping on orders over $150 (recommended to drive higher cart values)

Recommendation: Offering free shipping at $150 or higher incentivizes larger purchases and increases average order value.
