Overview
Customer tags let you label and group customers for filtering, reporting, and targeted communication. Common uses include marking VIP customers, flagging wholesale accounts, or tracking event attendees.
Tags in Corksy follow a two-step process: you first create the tag in Settings, then assign it to individual customers.
Step 1: Create a Tag in Settings
Before you can assign a tag to any customer, it must exist in your tag library.
Go to Settings in the left navigation.
Select Customer Tags.
Click Add Tag.
Enter the tag name and click Save.
The tag is now available to assign to any customer.
Step 2: Assign a Tag to a Customer
Go to Customers and open the customer's profile.
Look for the Tags section on the profile page.
Click Add Tag (or the tag input field).
Start typing the tag name — existing tags will appear as options.
Select the tag to apply it.
Removing a Tag from a Customer
Open the customer's profile.
Find the tag you want to remove in the Tags section.
Click the × next to the tag name to remove it.
This removes the tag from that customer only — it stays in your tag library and remains on any other customers it was assigned to.
Deleting a Tag Entirely
To permanently delete a tag and remove it from all customers:
Go to Settings → Customer Tags.
Find the tag you want to delete.
Click the delete icon next to it.
Confirm the deletion.
⚠️ Deleting a tag removes it from every customer it was assigned to. This cannot be undone.
Things to Know
Tags must be created in Settings before they can be assigned
You cannot create a new tag on the fly from a customer profile. If a tag you need doesn't appear in the dropdown when assigning, go to Settings → Customer Tags and create it first.
Tags typed directly on a profile won't save as new tags
If you type a tag name that doesn't already exist and press enter, it may appear to add — but it will not be saved to your tag library and won't be available to assign to other customers. Always create new tags in Settings first.
Finding customers by tag
You can filter your customer list by tag using the Filters option on the Customers page. This makes it easy to pull up all customers with a specific label.
