Use these steps when a PAX shows cellular signal bars but the POS reports "no internet connection" with Wi-Fi off. This is usually caused by an incorrect or default APN. These steps only apply if you are using a SIM card on your PAX device.
1. Open Network Settings
Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Network
Set to cellular, not Wi-Fi.
2. Enable Data Roaming
Mobile Network > Data Roaming > ON
3. Set Network Mode
Mobile Network > Preferred Network Type
Select 4G/LTE only (do not leave on Auto if used in the US/Canada).
4. Check/Update APN
Mobile Network > Access Point Names (APN)
Select the active APN and manually enter mtrex1.apn, then save.
The APN must be entered manually — do not rely on the default/detected APN (devices have shipped with it incorrectly set to web.pt.lu).
5. Clear Proxy Settings
Within the APN settings, leave Proxy blank and Port blank, then save.
6. Reboot the Device
Power off, then back on. Confirm it stays on 4G/LTE and the APN didn't revert.
7. Test Connectivity
Confirm the device connects and stays stable.
8. If still unable to transact
The terminal may also need the APN updated on the TPN (Terminal Parameter Network) — confirm with the payment provider that the APN has been added to the TPN for this device.
