PAX Terminal Troubleshooting
Use the steps below to troubleshoot common issues with your PAX A80, A77, A800, or A920Pro terminal.
General Troubleshooting Steps
Restart the Device
Hold the power button until the screen turns off
Wait 5 seconds, then power it back on
Check WiFi Connection
Slide down from the top of the screen to access the Settings menu
Tap the WiFi icon
Confirm that the device is connected to the correct network
Check for App Updates
Ensure Corksy POS and payment apps are installed and visible
If they appear missing or outdated, email [email protected]
Admin-Level Settings
Some fixes require the PAX admin menu. If a step asks for the device admin password, try the following, in order:
corksypax9876@@Today's date in
MMDDYYYYformat
If none of those work, try yesterday's or tomorrow's date in the same format — the terminal may be set to a different timezone.

Common Error Codes – PAX Terminals
Error Code | Description | Action Required |
| Approved (not an error) | No action needed |
| Communication error | Check WiFi connection and restart the device |
| Expired card | Ask customer for a new card |
| Issuer unavailable | Retry transaction or try a different card |
| System malfunction | Restart the terminal and try again |
| Payment app not installed | Contact Corksy Support to reinstall apps |
| Device not initialized | Contact Corksy Support for remote device config |
Stripe Terminal Troubleshooting
Stripe terminals must be paired via Corksy POS and be connected to the same network.
General Troubleshooting Steps
Fully restart both devices
Power off the device your terminal is connected to (iPad, desktop, or laptop) and turn it back on.
Power off the terminal by holding down the power button, then turn it back on.
Ensure both are on the same network
Confirm that both the terminal and your connected device are using the same Wi-Fi network.
Regenerate the pairing code
On your terminal:
Swipe from left to right on the screen to open Settings.
Enter the Admin PIN (if you don’t have it, email [email protected]).
Select Generate pairing code.
Re-register the terminal in POS
On your connected device, log in to your Corksy POS account (POS URL).
Go to Settings > Register Stripe Terminal.
Generate a new pairing code and enter the new Registration Code from the terminal.
Click Connect Register.
Test the connection
Return to the POS “Sell” screen and verify that products appear and the terminal is ready to process transactions.
Common Error Messages – Stripe Terminals
Error Message | Meaning | Solution |
| Terminal is not on the same network | Reconnect to correct WiFi network |
| Code expired or entered incorrectly | Generate a new code from the terminal |
| Corksy unable to link with terminal | Restart the POS session and re-pair the device |
| Card was not read successfully | Retry, or try another payment method |
| Terminal lost connection mid-transaction | Reconnect to WiFi, restart, and retry |
