Product Status: Draft vs. Active

Control product availability for pre-launch planning and seasonal releases.

On this page

Product Status

When creating or editing a product, you'll find Status Options near the top of the product page:

  • Draft

  • Active

These determine whether the product is sellable, regardless of which sales channels are selected under Available On.

Draft Status

  • The product cannot be sold on any sales channel, even if Online Store, POS, or Wine Club are selected.

  • Use draft to:

    • Pre-build products before launch.

    • Set up new releases in advance.

    • Prepare seasonal SKUs (e.g., holiday specials) without making them live.

  • Products remain hidden from customers until marked Active.

Active Status

  • Once changed to Active, the product:

    • Becomes visible and sellable on selected channels.

    • Appears in Online Store, POS, and/or Wine Club as per channel settings.

Showing a wine without selling it

Product status controls visibility and purchasing together: an Active product is visible and available to purchase, and a Draft product is hidden. There is no built-in setting that lets a wine appear on your site while blocking checkout — the standard product display is tied to purchasable products.

If you want to showcase wines that customers can't buy online (for example a "Library," "Our Wines," or allocation-only page), the workaround is to build a separate static page in the website editor that lists the wines without using the product/purchase widget. That page is maintained manually. Your team can create and maintain it directly in the website editor, or Corksy's website team can review the request and provide a quote.

Use Cases

Coming Soon Products: Build products early and keep in draft until launch day.
Seasonal or Limited Releases: Keep rare SKUs in draft during off-season and activate when needed.
Quality Control: Use draft mode to confirm details before going live.
