Selling Items That Are Out of Stock (Allow OOS)

What the 'Allow selling if item is out of stock' setting does, and how to turn it on per product.

What does “Allow selling if item is out of stock” do?

Every product (SKU) carries its own Allow out-of-stock (OOS) setting:

  • Enabled — customers and staff can keep buying the item even after its available inventory reaches zero. Use this for made-to-order, pre-sale, or always-available items.

  • Disabled (default) — once stock hits zero at the relevant location, the item becomes unavailable and can’t be purchased.

How do I turn it on?

  1. Open the product in your Corksy admin.

  2. Find and check Allow selling if item is out of stock.

  3. Save. To apply it to many products at once, update each product’s setting (there’s no single global switch — it’s per SKU).

Keep in mind: with Allow OOS on, the item is treated as always sellable, so inventory can go negative (oversell). With it off, an order can be paused if a product isn’t available at the location tied to the order’s delivery method — you’d then restock, substitute, or wait for replenishment.
