How Bundle Inventory Works (and Why Bundles Show as Sold Out)

Explains how bundle inventory is tracked separately from component SKUs, what the Auto-Restock setting does, and how to diagnose a bundle showing as sold out when you still have inventory.

Overview

Bundles in Corksy have their own inventory tracking that works separately from—but in connection with—the individual products inside them. Understanding how this works will help you quickly diagnose why a bundle shows as sold out even when you expect it to have stock.

Bundle Inventory: Two Layers

When a bundle is created, it has its own Available Quantity field. This is the total number of bundles you've set aside to sell, and it counts down independently as bundles are purchased. Even if every component SKU has plenty of stock, a bundle will show as sold out if its own Available Quantity reaches zero.

There's a second layer: the Auto-Restock setting. When Auto-Restock is enabled, the bundle's availability is also limited by its component SKUs. Specifically, the bundle will stop selling if any component SKU runs out—even if other components still have stock. The bundle's available quantity is effectively capped at the lowest-stocked component.

Inventory Is Tracked by Location

Inventory in Corksy is location-specific. A product can have stock in one location but zero at another. When diagnosing a sold-out bundle, make sure each component SKU has inventory at the location assigned to your online store—not just overall inventory across all locations.

Diagnosing a Bundle That Shows as Sold Out

If a bundle is showing sold out and you believe inventory exists, check these in order:

  1. Check the bundle's Available Quantity. Go to the bundle in your product catalog and confirm Available Quantity is greater than zero. This field is separate from component inventory and must be set.

  2. Check Auto-Restock setting. If Auto-Restock is on, check each component SKU's inventory. The bundle will show sold out if any single component is at zero—even if the bundle quantity itself is fine.

  3. Check inventory by location. Confirm each component has stock at the specific location tied to your online store. Total inventory across locations can be misleading.

  4. Confirm the bundle is active and published. A bundle in draft or inactive state won't appear on your shop even if it has inventory.

Common Scenarios

"The bundle quantity looks fine, but it's still sold out." Auto-Restock is likely on and at least one component is at zero at the relevant location. Check each component's location-specific inventory.

"I just restocked everything and it's still sold out." The bundle's own Available Quantity may still be at zero. Restock the bundle directly in addition to the components.

"It was working, then suddenly stopped." A component likely sold out (especially if Auto-Restock is on), or the bundle hit its Available Quantity limit.
