Adding a Customer (Admin Portal & POS)

How to create a customer record from the Corksy Admin Portal or POS, including optional details, addresses, and payment methods.

You can create a customer record from either the Corksy Admin Portal or the POS. The form is nearly identical in both. (Customers can also create their own account on your website — see Adding a New Customer on your eCommerce Website.)

Add a customer in the Admin Portal

  1. Log in to the Corksy Admin Portal.

  2. In the left menu, click Customers.

  3. Click + Create Customer.

  4. Complete the required fields (marked with a red asterisk). The Email Address must be unique — it’s the customer’s identifier.

  5. Add any optional details (see below), then click Save.

Add a customer on the POS

  1. Log in to the Corksy POS (via the POS URL, or from the Admin Portal click Open POS under Point of Sale).

  2. Click the menu icon (three lines) in the top left, then the people icon, and select Customers.

  3. Click Create Customer.

  4. Fill out the details (same as the Admin Portal). The Email Address must be unique. Note: the “Shipping Preference Company” field isn’t available on POS.

  5. Click Save.

Optional details

  • Class: Wine Club member, Employee, or Customer.

  • Tags: custom labels to organize customers (create the tag first). See Managing Customer Tags.

  • Notes: internal-only, visible to staff but not the customer.

  • Marketing consent: check “Customer agreed to receive email/SMS marketing” to add them to your marketing segments (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, etc.).

  • Secondary point of contact (optional): for members who hold their wine club wines for pickup, the secondary contact is added as a pickup guest.

Add address and payment methods

After the basic details, you can add address and payment info (in both Admin and POS):

  1. On the customer form, click Switch to Address and Payment Methods (scroll to the bottom).

  2. Enter the address; choose Save as Primary Address to make it the default.

  3. Optionally add a credit card to keep on file (so you can charge it through Corksy); choose Set as Primary Payment Method if desired.

  4. Click Save.
