Order Subtypes

Overview
Order Subtypes allow you to categorize orders beyond standard order types (Online, POS, Club, etc.). They provide additional structure for reporting, filtering, and operational tracking - helping you break down sales by event, campaign, fulfillment type, or internal classification.

What Are Order Subtypes?

Order Subtypes are custom labels applied to orders to provide more detailed categorization.

They work in addition to the standard order type and help you answer questions like:

  • Was this POS order from a special event?

  • Was this shipment part of a replacement or comp?

  • Was this a corporate gifting order?

Common examples:

  • Event

  • Corporate

  • Telemarketing

  • Outbound

  • Industry Comp

Order Subtypes help you segment and analyze orders without changing core order types.

Where to Manage Order Subtypes

To add, edit, or remove Order Subtypes:

Corksy Admin Portal → Settings → Order Subtypes

From this page you can:

  • Create new subtypes

  • Rename existing ones

  • Delete unused subtypes

Assigning a Subtype to an Order

Order Subtypes can be assigned when:

  • Creating a new Manual order

  • Editing an existing order

To assign manually:

  1. Open the order

  2. Locate the Order Subtype dropdown

  3. Select the appropriate subtype

  4. Save

Setting a default subtype for POS orders

You don't have to tag every POS order by hand. Corksy can automatically apply a default order subtype to POS orders, set per POS user:

  1. In the POS, go to POS → Settings → Default Suborder Type.

  2. Choose the subtype that should apply by default.

  3. Repeat for each POS user/login — the default is set per POS user, so log into each one and set it.

Once set, orders placed by that POS user are automatically logged with the chosen default subtype (you can still change an individual order's subtype by editing the order).

Reporting & Filtering

Order Subtypes are available in:

  • Order filtering

  • Exports

  • Reporting dashboards

This allows you to:

  • Track performance by campaign

  • Separate event revenue from standard POS revenue

  • Analyze corporate or bulk sales

  • Monitor comps and replacements
