Your PAX device is set up in one of two ways depending on how you take payment: Corksy Go or PEPay. A device is configured as one or the other — you can’t switch between them on the fly.
Corksy Go (standalone POS)
Corksy Go runs the full Corksy POS on the PAX device’s own screen. You ring up items and take payment right on the device — no separate computer needed. You can also park an order on another device (for example, an iPad) and then open it in the Corksy Go app to complete it.
PEPay (PayEngine payment app)
PEPay is the app from PayEngine (our payment gateway). It sits on the PAX device screen in kiosk mode and accepts payment when an order is rung up in an associated web browser. In other words: you build the order in Corksy in a web browser, and the PEPay device takes the customer’s card payment.
Can I switch between Corksy Go and PEPay?
Not on your own — a device has to be set up as one or the other. If you need to change which mode a device uses, contact the Corksy team. Please allow 12 business hours’ notice for us to make the change.
What is kiosk mode?
Kiosk mode isn’t something you select — it’s on by default for the PEPay app. It simply locks the app to the screen so you can’t navigate away from it, keeping the device focused on taking payment.
PAX admin password
If the PAX asks for an admin password (for example, to connect to WiFi or open device settings), the default is pax9876@@. A password requested during a transaction is different — that’s a POS user PIN used to attribute the sale to an employee.
