Merging and Deleting Customer Accounts

How to delete a customer account and merge duplicate customer profiles.

This article covers how to merge duplicate customer profiles into one, and how to delete a customer account.

Merge duplicate customer accounts

If a customer has more than one profile (for example, one created online and one created at POS), you can merge them so their history lives on a single record.

  1. Go to Customers and open the profile you want to keep (this is the customer everything will be merged into).

  2. Click Edit to open the Customer Edit page.

  3. Find the Merge Customer option.

  4. Search for the duplicate customer by email address and select them.

  5. Review and confirm the merge.

When the merge completes, the following is transferred from the duplicate onto the customer you kept:

  • Orders

  • Memberships / wine club subscriptions

  • Reservations

  • Addresses

  • Saved payment methods (non-card)

Two things to know:

Saved credit cards don’t transfer. Each saved card is tied to a unique payment-processor ID and stays with the original record, so the customer may need to re-add their card after a merge.

A merge can’t be undone — double-check you’ve selected the right records before confirming.

Don’t see the Merge Customer option? It may not be enabled for your store yet. Email [email protected] with the two accounts and which one to keep as primary, and the team can merge them for you.

Delete a customer account

  1. Go to Customers in your Corksy admin.

  2. Find the customer and open the Actions menu next to their name.

  3. Click Delete and confirm.

If a customer has duplicate profiles, merge them (above) rather than deleting — deleting removes that record’s history rather than combining it.
