Email Marketing FAQs

Explore answers across key topics like Platform Integration & Data Flow, Native Customer Segments & Export Options, and Technical Troubleshooting — all designed to help you get the most from your email marketing.

Two segmentation versions. Corksy accounts are on one of two versions. The answers below describe Classic segmentation (labeled just “Segmentation,” with predefined options and a manual push). If your account shows a Beta sticker labeled “Segmentation and Email Marketing,” you’re on the newer version — you can type segments in plain language, they can auto-sync, and you can send campaigns inside Corksy. See Sending Corksy Segments to Klaviyo & Mailchimp (Classic vs. Dynamic) and Segmentation 2.0 (Beta).

Platform Integration & Data Flow

  • What email marketing platforms do you currently integrate with?
Corksy currently offers direct integrations with Klaviyo and Mailchimp.

💡: What email platform should I use?

Klaviyo: Best for behavior-based automation and growth.

Mailchimp: Good for simpler needs with basic automation features.

  • Do you integrate with other email marketing platforms?
Corksy currently offers direct integrations with Klaviyo and Mailchimp. For other platforms, you can manually export/import customer data into your preferred email tool. Corksy acts as your central source of customer data, even if you’re using a different email marketing platform.

  • Will customer info flow automatically into Klaviyo or Mailchimp?
It depends on your version. In Classic segmentation, pushes are a one-time snapshot — to keep your email platform current you push the segment again or re-import. In the newer version, dynamic segments auto-sync daily (Corksy adds/removes members automatically). See Segmentation in Corksy.

  • Does Corksy push duplicate contacts to my email platform?
No — Klaviyo & Mailchimp automatically de-duplicate contacts using email addresses. If a contact already exists, it won’t be added again — only new email addresses are created.

  • How do I find my audience in Klaviyo or Mailchimp?

    • Klaviyo: Navigate to “Audience” → “Lists and Segments”

    • Mailchimp: Navigate to “Audience” → “Tags”

Native Customer Segments & Export Options

  • What customer segments does Corksy offer?

    • Classic segmentation offers predefined segment types: all customers, customers with X purchases, purchasers in the last X days, and abandoned checkout in the last X days.

    • Newer version: instead of predefined options, you type the audience you want in plain language and Corksy builds the segment (with a much richer set of fields). See Segmentation in Corksy.

Note: When Corksy pushes a Classic segment, it sends First Name, Last Name, and Email Address.

  • Should I build segments in Corksy or my email platform?
Corksy gives you a starting point with its segments (or export/import for more detail). You can also use Klaviyo or Mailchimp for more flexible segmentation with customizable tags.

  • Can I send wine club member data to my email platform?
You can export data from the “Memberships” tab and import it into your email platform for targeting by club tier, club status, etc.

  • Can I send tasting room visitor data to my email platform?
You can export visitor data from the “Bookings” tab and import it into your email platform for targeting.

  • Can I send order history data to my email platform?
You can export order data from the “Orders” tab and use it to target customers based on product purchases, values, dates, etc.

🚨 Tip: Check formatting guides for your import file on Mailchimp or Klaviyo.

Technical Troubleshooting

  • Why am I seeing a “required field not mapped” error during import?

    • This usually means you’re missing a key column like “Email Address” or your headers don’t match what your email platform expects (formatting guides for Mailchimp or Klaviyo).

  • Why are some fields not importing correctly?
Custom fields need to be mapped during import. If they don’t match an existing field, create a new custom field first in your email platform, then map it.

  • Why aren’t my tags showing up after import?
Tags must be added during the import process. If you skip this step, contacts will still import but won’t be grouped for targeting.

  • Can I add tags after import?
Yes — manually or in bulk after import — but it’s best to add them during import for easier organization.

  • Why are duplicate contacts showing up in my audience?
Email platforms de-duplicate by email address, but issues like extra spaces or import settings can create duplicates.

📌 Pro Tip: Trim whitespace in your export file, check key column formatting, select “Update existing contacts” during import, and use one master contact list.

  • Why don’t I see updated contact info after a new import?
If you didn’t select “Update existing contacts,” your email platform won’t overwrite old data. Always double-check your import settings.

  • Why isn’t my Corksy segment showing up in Klaviyo or Mailchimp yet?
It can take up to ~1 hour for Corksy to push a segment, depending on the size of the audience. If it’s been longer, recheck that the push completed or try resending.
