Automatic Discounts

Automatic discounts apply automatically at checkout when all conditions are met.

On This Page

Create an Automatic Discount

  1. From the Corksy Admin Portal → Discounts → Add New Discount

  2. Select: Automatic Discount

  3. From there, configure the discount by setting the conditions outlined below - including scope, eligibility, minimum requirements, usage limits, and active dates - then click Save to activate the discount.

Automatic Discount Overview

Basic Information

  • Discount Name (required)

  • Internal Description (optional)

Active Dates (Optional)

  • Start date

  • End date (optional)

  • Start and end times (optional)

Note: A discount scheduled to start in the future can now have its start date moved back to today, so you can activate it immediately when plans change.

Select Discount Scope

Choose what the discount applies to:

  • Order

  • Products

  • Shipping

Order Discount Setup

Order discounts apply to the entire order subtotal.

Discount Amount Options

  • Dollar amount off

  • Percentage off

  • Percentage off with maximum discount cap

Exclusions (Optional)

You may exclude:

  • Specific collections

  • Specific product types

  • Specific products

Exclusions always override inclusions.

Order discounts never stack with product discounts but may apply alongside one shipping discount.

Product Discount Setup

Product discounts apply only to eligible products.

Inclusions (Required)

You must define at least one:

  • Specific collections

  • Product types

  • Individual products

Discount Amount Options

  • Dollar amount off per item

  • Percentage off

Important:
Flat-rate discounts apply per item quantity. Increasing quantity increases the total discount value.

Each line item can receive only one discount. If multiple discounts are eligible, the highest-value discount applies.

A product discount applies to every eligible item in the order — you can't cap it at "the first N items." If a product discount qualifies, it applies to all matching line items in that order. There is no setting that discounts only the first few qualifying items and charges full price for the rest. This is why a "comp up to 4 tasting fees per member, charge for the 5th+" rule can't be built as an automatic discount (usage limits count discount redemptions, not items within one order). To cap the number of discounted items in a single order, handle it manually at checkout.

Shipping Discount Setup

Shipping discounts apply to shipping charges only.

Scope Options

  • All shipping rates

  • Specific shipping rates

Discount Amount Options

  • Dollar amount off

  • Percentage off

  • Flat rate shipping

  • Free shipping

Only one shipping discount can apply per order.

Shipping discounts do not apply to reservation orders.

How Automatic Discounts Combine With Others

An order always ends with one final discount outcome. When several discounts are eligible, Corksy applies the combination that produces the highest total discount value and ignores the rest.

Automatic discounts can combine (stack) with others only when you put them in a stacking set (Discounts → Stacking):

  • Product-level: up to 24 product discounts plus 1 shipping discount together (25 total).

  • Order-level: 1 order discount plus 1 shipping discount together (product discounts do not apply when an order discount does).

Each line item still receives only one discount (the highest-value one), and only one shipping discount applies per order. For the full rules, see Discounts and Discount Stacking Rules.

Eligibility Rules

Eligibility controls who can receive the discount.

Customer Eligibility Options

  • All Customers

  • All Clubs

  • Specific Clubs

    • Option to include paused members

  • Customers with Specific Tags

  • Customers with Specific Classes

Important Rules

  • Cancelled club memberships are never eligible.

  • Paused members must be explicitly enabled.

  • Customer tags are evaluated at the time of order.

Sales Channel Controls (Optional)

You may limit discounts to specific order types:

  • Point of Sale

  • Website

  • Manual

  • Club

  • Bulk

  • Reservations

Minimum Requirements

Minimum requirements determine whether a discount becomes eligible.

Options include:

  • No minimum

  • Minimum purchase amount (cart subtotal)

  • Minimum total item quantity

  • Minimum items from a product type

  • Minimum items from specific collections

  • Buy X products with minimum quantity

If minimum requirements are not met, the discount does not apply.

Reservation orders do not enforce minimum requirements.

Usage Limits

Control how often a discount can be used.

Options:

  • Maximum total uses

  • Maximum uses per customer

Usage limits apply across all channels.

Important:

  • Removing a discount from an order does not consume usage.

  • Usage limits are rechecked at order completion.

  • A discount may appear valid during checkout but fail if the usage limit is reached before completion.

Usage limits count how many times a discount is used — not how many items it discounts in one order. "Maximum uses per customer = 4" means the customer can redeem the discount on 4 separate orders; it does not mean "only 4 items get the discount." Within a single order, an eligible discount applies to all qualifying items. So a rule like "comp up to 4 tasting fees per member within a date range" can't be enforced automatically — if a member buys 5 tasting fees in one order, all 5 are comped. This specific use case is a logged feature request (INTAKE‑2560); until it ships, cap it manually at checkout.
